drain the whole cooling system and refill it. You will never know if you don't give details of your car!
Any sign of overheating, just replace the thermostat. On a 8 year old car it should be replaced and the cooling system serviced.

You pressure test the cooling system
It was not up to late 90s style. Don't know about newer styles.
I know you need to have headers and motor mounts but I'm not sure about fuel delivery or the cooling system I'm sure there will be hoses and wires to change but i don't know much past that.
Pressure testr the cooling system and obseerve where leak originates
Have a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL - who will know what they're doing - recover and replace the blended refrigerant. AC system work - whether at the home or on a motor vehicle - is NOT a "do it yourself" task, and it seems now that you have a better understanding of why that is.
