Usually. If you are in an honor s class then you will have harder work then most student at ur grade level an sense you already know what the other may just be learning. You are put in an honor s class so that the teachers can challenge you do help you learn more then you already know

I would guess it would vary from school to school, but general if you stay near the top of your graduating class, maintain a good grade point average, and probably take honors or AP courses, you'll be recognized. I know that my school has rotary scholarships for the top 10% of students in each high school class, so there are programs for these sorts of things I would assume. I'm fairly sure that just staying in the top percentile of class is enough to be recognized.

Although I am not aware on how the middle school band program works; I do know that in my side of town; there is a high school honors band, in which I am trying out for (I am also a flutist myself). It takes some middle school band experience, and an audition that features a piece of music that looks hard to play (the notes look all closely spaced; and you never know how fast you're supposed to play it). But in order to get in; you should basically work hard and try your very best!
