Of course if it breaks the engine will not run. However there is no way to look at it and tell if it is ready to break or not. That is why timing belts are replaced at a certain mileage as outlined in your owners manual. On interference engines if the belt breaks you will have serious internal engine damage.
Not unless they are damaged or faulty.
The timing belt of a vehicle is responsible for linking the activities of the crankshaft and camshaft. A damaged timing belt could be responsible for a faulty engine.
No, but faulty water pump or thermostat can.
It does not have a timing belt it has a chain
Almost certainly. The timing belt being damaged or broken can cause a number of different problems. I know in my 86 celica sx the result of a faulty/ old timing belt was a piston snapping off at the control rod, it was warped and bent because of wrong timing. i suggest if u have a broken/old/damaged timing belt you do not drive it till u get it replaced. Also see your mechanic for more advice
I know of no vehicle where the engine has to be removed to change a timing belt.
yes a worn timing belt can can cause an engine to miss, most of the time though it is only on an automatic transmission vehicle while in gear at a stop. if the belt is broken of course it won't run.
The 1997 Buick Park Avenue does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain.
If the timing belt is broken the vehicle will not start.
Give more info., did previous timing belt fail?
A faulty fuel pump could do that or a faulty timing belt (if equipped) could also do that. If it is a Ford, it could be the ignition module too.
Remove the timing belt cover and inspect the belt or change it every 90K miles.
