use thekey that unlocks the doors, then look under the rear of car under the plate you will see a chrome-piece that has a lock cylinder built in it .insert your door key and turn it until this part unlocks and comes off a long bolt that hold you spare tire under the rear of car this piece is just a anti theft part so no one steals your spare loosen the bolt a few turns it is the same size as you lug nuts, you will see a slot to slide the bolt out of its holder a large plastic well will hang down so you can get spare out, reverse process
That lock is to keep someone from stealing your spare tire. When you remove the lock then you will be able to slide the tool in the hole and let the spare tire down to the ground.
To let the top down on a 2001 Corvette you will need to go where the windshield meets and then, and then you would want to pull down all of the latches. This should let your 2001 Corvette top down.
The same crank used for the jack also cranks down the spare tire. The jack and crank are located under the rear seat(s). If the lift system has not been serviced it may be necessary to pull the spare tire down as somebody operates the crank to release it. www.trailvoy.com - All the answers for your Trailblazer from true enthusiasts!
That is a lock system that can be removed with the key,so you can install the tire tool in it and let the spare tire down to the ground.
There is a cover on the left rear side after you open the hatch that you use the tire wrench to wind it around it let it down from underneath the rear of the vehicle
RAISE THE REAR HATCH AND UNDER THE CARPET IS A SQUARE AREA WHERE THE CARPET COMES UP. UNDER IT IS A NUT THAT YOU USE LUG WRENCH TO LET THE SPARE DOWN
The jack let all the way out you have to move the handle til it lines up and then the spare tire goes over the jack.
It's stuck to the bottom of the truck. Pry on it and it will come down. Don't let it fall on you.
On my 2001 there is a bolt under a flap in the carpet. Turning this bolt counter clockwise will unwind the cable holding the spare tire and let the tire down. Finding the bolt is not easy. it is left of center in the cargo area and if you have the roll out storage tray, there is an access hole through the bottom of the left compartment.
Should be under the middle of the vehicle. Look on the floor between the two front bucket seats and you'll see a device to let the spare down. The owners manual will show you how it's done.
If you look at the back bumper by the license plate you will see a small black plastic cover about the size of a pack of smokes. Pop it open and you will see a hole in the bumper, Then put the tire tool in that hole and turn it counter clockwise and it will let the spare down. If it will only lower a couple inches then the safety hook mechanism is rusted or corroded. I had to squeeze in above the tire and push the hook mechanism in to get the tire down. After it was down I took a metal cutoff wheel and sawed the hook off. Now i don't have any problems.
There is a hole under your tail gate, between your bumper.. you stick you jack handle in it far enough to turn the cable let down peace that's under there... this will lower your tire down....
