whereiscrank case oil drain plug on 1998 mercury 9.9 4 stroke
where is the drain oil plug on a 2010 9.9 mercury outboard motor
By simply storing your outboard in a vertical position, powerhead up, the cooling water will drain out of the engine via the gearcase.
Yea yes it can
The size of the engine is not mentioned, but most Mercury outboard models situate the drain plug on the lower half of the port side cowling. Have your funnel and or drain pan ready when you remove that plug! Also be careful not to drop the sealing washer off of the plug, fwiw, the manufacturers recommend replacement of this washer.
Changing the gear oil in a 4 stroke outboard, is the same proceedure as with the 2 stroke. Remove the drain plug, at bottom of gearcase, remove vent plug at top of gearcase and let drain. Fill from bottom, (drain plug hole), until lube runs out of top, (vent plug hole). While blocking off drain plug hole, to keep oil from draining, replace vent plug. Make sure that plug gaskets are in place and in serviceable condition. Quickly, replace the drain plug.
it is on the rear of the engine below the engine. There is a rubber hose coming out of the motor and the drain plug is inside the rubber hose.
The only thing you need to do is put the motor in the verticle position when you take it out of the water. The water will drain out. Yes, even the water that is in the "water pump" will drain. DON'T DRAG YOUR LOWER UNIT ON THE GROUND.
An oil pump can be used by running the pick-up tube down the dip stick housing. The only problem with this method, as you probably already know, is getting all the spent oil, and sediments out of the sump. It is recommended by the manufactorer, and I have to agree, to drain it .
where is the radiator drain plug on a mercury villager
You should really get the Helms manual so that you can properly maintain your motor. They're available at http://www.helmsinc.com/ and are well worth the $$$
The location of the engine oil drain plug varies depending on the brand of engine. On most outboards, of the 90 hp class however, it is located on the starboard side, about midway up the exhaust housing.
