A Shih tzu is primarily a house dog, although my little girl likes her walks every day.

We typically walk about one-half mile every day. She is about eleven years old.

If she gets a little tired, given her age, I will pick her up and carry her back.

(Caesar the dog expert had no problem on one episode letting a Shih Tzu he was training

walk in front of him. A Shih Tzu will not typically pull the leash. They will more likely

walk at your pace. Special attention must be given to the eyes of a Shih Tzu which bulge

out more than that of the average pet. Be careful about walking in tall grass or the woods.

A Shih Tzu loves to be with its owner. As a very sociable dog, they should not be left alone

a long time on a frequent basis.

Since my Jessie has had crystals in her urine, he dog food is a Urinary SSO diet.

Shih Tzu's show a lot of affection to their owners. They seem particularly wired to humans

more so than some other breeds. (may be do to the age of the breed,

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shih_Tzu...

" Recent DNA analysis confirms that the ancestors of today's Shih Tzu breed are among the

most ancient of dog breeds.

I am 69 and have a number of different breeds in my lifetime. My Shih Tzu Jessie is the

best dog I have ever had! I will never own any animal other that a Shis Tzu.
