Open the rear hatch and remove the floor mat from the rear floor. Under the mat is more carpet, but if you look closely in the middle of where the mat used to be, you'll see there are cuts in the carpet that enable you to lift up a small flap. Under this flap is a hex nut. Open the plastic panel to your left, and you'll find the jack, the jack crank, and the lug wrench. Use the lug wrench to turn that nut counterclockwise, and that will lower the spare on a cable. Once the spare hits the ground, continue to turn the wrench to get enough slack so that you can remove the cable from the spare.
There was a recall on this cable system, so if you haven't had yours replaced, go to the dealer for a free replacement.
