To lower the tank you could let the air out of the tires. To remove the tank you would need to remove the crash armor to get to the mounting bolts of the tank to chassis. Jeeps have straps and no armor. Then if you had fuel in there it could be drained by the PLUG at the bottom of the tank, all fuel drains out. With troopers a five gallon bucket will slide under nicely (providing you did not let air out of the tires) ;) First you must determine how much fuel is in the tank, too much and it will make the tank very unbalanced when trying to remove in other words the less fuel the better (you may need to drain fuel). You take a floor jack and place a piece of wood between the floor jack and the tank so that you don't puncture the tank, you then remove the screws on the lip of the tank, loosen and remove the filler neck from the tank, then disconnect the electrical connections and hoses that go to the tank. On the top of the tank where the hoses were connected you will see about 8 screws remove the screws and pull out the fuel pump, you then must remove the fuel pump from the sending unit assembly do not remove until you have the new pump if you have a camera take a picture so you can put it back as you found it. I have done this on a 1990 trooper on 3 occasions, what I have told you is for that year trooper but there should not be much difference from any other trooper. Good luck
In the fuel tank
It is in the fuel tank.
in the fuel tank
It is in the fuel tank if it is fuel injected.
My 1990 Isuzu Trooper II holds 20.5 US gallons.
My 1990 Isuzu Trooper II holds 20.5 US gallons.
It's in the fuel tank, like on all modern vehicles.
Drop the tank and there is a round plate on the top where the hoses connect. The filter is on the end of the pickup tube inside the tank.
The fuel pump is an 'in tank' pump. You have to lower the tank to get to the plate that has the fuel pump attatched.
Yes they should be the same
Per the Haynes manual it is on top of the gas tank. You have to lower the gas tank to get to it.
The fuel pump is located inside of the gas tank. Best way is to run most of the fuel out, then you have to lower the tank to get to the access plate on the top of the tank. raise the suv and block the tires, be sure engine off and keys out, remove the tank straps holding the tank in place, put a jack under the tank before you completely loosen it so it does not drop. Remember to disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors, and lower the tank, you can now remove the fuel pump from the top of the tank and replace it. install is reverse of removal.
