The door stoppers have tension loaded ball bearings in a small case that press against the top and bottom of the plastic-looking bar between the body and the edge of the door. The pressure level is fairly substantial. The plastic is grooved (in which the balls slide) with extra depressions in two spot to hold the door partially and fully open. If the door is making "popping" noises, this would indicate that the plastic is wearing on the slide and the balls are essentially 'popping" into those depressions. To lube, I have used lithium spray grease around the pivot pin on the body side and directed above and below where the slide enters the door but even taking the slider out and cleaning it well has not had an effect on the"popping" at this point - it's more of an annoyance but the stoppers can be replaced for about $30 + labor if needed.
Try the front door panels, I replaced blown front speakers for my 02 Liberty and low and behold there they were.
