Not easy from scratch as it will depend on the acid - not least concentration and whether it is Strong or weak. Practically, you'd use a pH meter and SLOWLY add acid to some water being vigorously stirred.

When an acid solution is mixed with a basic solution?

When an acid solution is mixed with a basic solution, there will be a neutralization reaction in which hydrogen ions from the acid will combine with hydroxide ions from the base, to form water.

Hydroxylammonium chloride is acidic in water solution.

What does mixing in acid with a base give you?

When mixing an acid and a base you will get a salt and water solution (But this is not the normal water that you would drink or, the normal salt you would put on your chips) . Here is the word equation; acid+ base= salt+ water.

What happens if you add hydrogen ions to a neutral solution?

If you mix an neutral and an acid, The pH of the solution will be closer to 7 (neutral). Also if you mix an acid with an alkali (providing they are around the same strengh) it will turn neutral. Its like mixing orange juice with water, The juice is acid and the water is neutral, put water in the juice and it become weaker.

What happens during a chemical reactions involving acids bases and water?

Acid + Base = Salt + Water Acid + Water = Base + Water = Electrolytic Water Solution since the ions are still disassociated.

Is distilled water buffered?

No, distilled water is not a buffer. A buffer is an aqueous solution consisting of a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base or a weak base and its conjugate acid.

The water solution of bromothymol blue is a little acidic.

What is the pH of octane?

Octane is neither an acid or base. So it will produce a pH of 7. A not on pH: no acid or base has a specific pH. pH is a measure of hydrogen ion concentration in a solution of water. That depends on both how strong an acid or base is and how much is dissolved in a solution in a given volume of water.
