Create a dos boot disk. Make sure that it contains FORMAT and FDISK. If you have access to Windows 98 then you can create a boot disk.
The question is a bit vague. You need to specifiy what you are trying to do and what operating system you are using. For instance, if you are at a command prompt in DOS or Windows you could type in FORMAT C: /S and the drive designated by the C: (c drive) would be formatted and bootable system files would be added (/S). Please be more specific when you re-ask your question.
You would need to purchase the install CD from Windows. The free upgrade to Windows 10 is only offered to current Windows user. If you are not part of their product you would need to purchase it.
You will first need to create a bootable USB which contains the Windows you would like to install. You can use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.
Reformat the hard drive like you would any other drive. If you want to remove the partition table and create a new one, or it is a new drive, then boot your system using a win98 bootable disk then type Fdisk hit enter. Then do what you want in FDisk. Otherwise skip to the next step. If you are in DOS, just do Format and then the drive letter, such as: Format C: If you want to create it as a bootable drive, make sure the drive is marked as Active in Fdisk (or whatever partition manager you use) and then do Format /s C: The /s means to install the OS loader files. Or, if you install or reinstall Windows, you should be given the options to clear the drive and/or partition and format it.
Insert your Windows CD or DVD and get to the part where it shows all your partitions and delete the Linux partitions. If you are unsure which one is your windows partition just make sure you don't delete or format any partition that is in the NTFS, or in the rare case a FAT32 format, as those would be your windows partitions.
yeah but theres a certain format u need to make it
You would have to format the hard-drive, and do a fresh install of Windows XP. You would also need to re-install all of your software - some of which may not work with XP (since XP is an old version of Windows)
It should be FAT16.
The answer for this would be YES and also No... It would be YES if you format the whole hard disk.. When u format the hard disk completely all the information in it would be erased and u may have to partition it again before installing the Windows(OS).... It would be NO if you formatted only the C: in the system.. The Windows or any OS would by default be stored in C: only, so if u wanna get rid of the existing OS and install a new one, then formatting the C: only would be more then enough..In this way the files, folders etc. in other drives would not be erased... Note : If u format the C: drive alone also the application softwares(office, photoshop, autocad, etc...) would be erased..
You technicly dont format windows you would format Your hardrive or in otherwords erase all data on it that includes Windows. the result is a dumb computer NO OPERATING SYSTEM. so you will have to get another OS disk to reprogram it with after a format. You have been warned. Get a windows 98 start up disk from a friend and start the system with it in the floppy drive. choose the way you want it to start and when you get a DOS Prompt looks like this C:/ type in fdisk.exe and hit enter follow instructions on the screen. to repartition your hardrive. Last warning !!!!! All data on your hardive will be lost.
insert floppy drive and go to command prompt and run format /s a:
this would only be the case if you had no insulation in your walls and double pane windows, with lo-e.
