To keep the cat away from the couch or from acting out certain behaviors all you need to do is run to the nearest drug store, beauty supply, dollar store, etc to purchase a cheap water bottle sprayer (example: like a bottle sprayer for your hair). Put water in the bottle and put the setting on stream where it will shoot a stream vs. just mist and voila you have a homemade pet sprayer. This should start eliminating the bad behaviors.
Just remember if they are not acting out badly to reward them with treats and love.
if it's for a tom cat then don't try bleaches or anything that you can buy that says that it will do the job because i tryed it and it didn't work but something that works brilliantly is lemon juice, they don't like the vapours that it gives off. try it and let me know if it works :)

Some commercial repellents for dogs and cats contain a 3% methyl nonyl ketone solution. These are only suitable outdoors, as some humans find the odor offensive, as well. (Curiously, some other people don't smell it at all.) Apparently, ketone-based repellents are being phased out in favor of furanone-based formulas, which are synthetic analogues of botanical scents.
Those synthetic scents are not available to consumers, except in manufactured repellent products, so if you want to make your own, you would need to use botanical oils. Cinnamon oil, oil of anise, oil of citronella and oil of orange are all known to be repellents for dogs and cats.
Menthol is also reported to be an effective repellent.

A good cat repellent spray would be the Mega Sonic Cat Repellent. It is entirely harmless to cats yet will still keep them away, and if you wish to, you can also spread garlic around your garden to keep them away.
I've read that Cat nip and Bay leaves are an effective repellent. Also, Boric acid is supposed to kill all roaches because they take the boric acid back to their nests...
