To make a GIMP image your desktop background, open it in GIMP and be sure to save it as a common extension, such as yourfilenamehere.jpg or .gif or .png. If your image is already listed under one of these extensions, you can skip this step.

Note: .xcf files are readable only by GIMP, so will not translate to a desktop image and can't be read by programs such as Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft internet Explorer or Windows Picture and Fax viewer.

Go to your desktop and right click. Select Properties from the drop-down menu and go to Desktop. There will be a list of images, to the right of which is a "Browse" button. Click this button and locate your image. Once you have found it, select it and click OK.

You can now either click "Apply" to apply your new background and see how it looks, keeping the Desktop dialogue open, or you can click OK and the background will apply, closing the desktop dialogue.

I hope this has been helpful for you. =]

How do you make a picture on Paint have a white background?

There is no other way but just use the eraser to rub of the background you don't want, that's the only way. Another Answer: It is possible I would've thought. Obviously, it cannot be done within MS Paint but if you really want a white background you can use an Image editor such as Photoshop or GIMP to change it. Save your image in Paint, and open it in an image editor use the lasso tool in Photoshop or Scissor tool in GIMP and go around the picture and that erases the background. Save it and reopen it in MS Paint and the background should be white.

How to use CSS in making the picture a background?

To make a picture a background of a web site using CSS, you will use the different background properties, which are: background-color, background-image, background-repeat, background-attachment, and background-position. The specific property you are looking for is background-image. To use this property you would declare in your style sheet the following: body { background-image: url('paper.jpg'); } This is telling the web browser to use the image paper.jpg and make it the background of the entire page. The other background properties control whether the backgound is repeated along the x and/or y axis, the position on the screen the image begins at, whether the background is fixed or scrolls with the page, and the background color.
