On any Answers.com web page you will see a box in the top right corner that says "Sign Up". Click on that box. You will then see a screen with four choices and you can set up an Answers.com account using any one of the four choices. You can sign up using your Facebook account, your Google+ account, your Twitter account or your email address. Click on your choice and follow the instructions.

You do now. When I first joined, there was no requirement to have a facebook account. This has since been changed so that all new users must sign up with their facebook ID.
Answercom allow every individual who have facebook account. If still sign in makes an error contact the community of Answercom.
