DPF Delete Pipe and No Cat is all it takes for a 7.3L to smoke. That's all it takes to make any diesel smoke up until the 2010 model year. Or run a straight pipe right out. I took all the emission systems out of my 7.3L stock muffler and it smoked.
i put a chip in mine and it black smokes
Buy a "bully dog" chip that plugs into computer/ fuse box

Yes it should. The difference is the transfer case, which is externally bolted on the transmisison.
A blown head gasket can make one smoke or the engine is shot.
The 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8 engine produces 295 to 305 horsepower.

wont start after changing fuel filter
It is completely normal for a diesel to smoke black. But, if it just now started to smoke black and everything on the truck is stock, go get it checked out by a mechanic. You could have bad fuel injectors or a dirty air filter. Start with the simple stuff first. And, I'd say from it being a 2004 Powerstroke 6.0L, that your injectors are probably bad.
