You'd better don't.
Butterflies are fragile creatures and holding them can easily damage them, and they don't heal well.
Orange butterflies symbolize New life Yellow butterflies symbolize remembrance of a lost love one Black butterflies are a symbol of a bad omen But if a butterfly lands on you it's good luck and you should make a wish :)
An amazing thing that a monarch butterfly does to survive is make a 3,000 mile trip during migration. This is done by millions of monarch butterflies each and every year.
No. Since new birds are hatched every year, the young ones won't know that monarchs taste so bad. Also, the viceroy butterfly looks like a monarch. Birds eat it and it tastes good. So if that bird sees a monarch it thinks is a viceroy butterfly, it'll eat it.
Both Monarchs and Viceroy are equally poisonous to birds and other predators. This was not discovered until 1991, when entymologists examined the Batesian theory of mimicry and discovered that the Viceroy is also poisonous. The mimicry is possibly by both species - they are able to double up on predator recognition. If you have any other butterfly questions, e-mail them to me @ liviebug97@yahoo.com. I'd be more than happy to answer them for you!
In my class we are starting learning about the life cycle
It blends it to a tree or a leaf when it is in danger so it can hide!
Monarch butterflies, for example, are poisionous to birds. The taste very bad and make birds sick enough to teach them a lesson.
We just heard a lady that was in a Monark butterfly club last Thru. She spoke at the St Joe, MO water garder club Aug Meeting. She told us that the male had two black spots near the ribs on its wings. These are sent glands that make them more actractive to the females. Paul Deatz Member of the St Joe Water garden club
The life cycle of the butterfly.start of by drawing a circle about a quarter of a page in size. Then draw a butterfly at the bottom of the circle and label it "Butterfly" A butterfly lays eggs, so the next thing you do is go about 1/5 of the way to the left along the circle and draw a green leaf with eggs stuck it and label it "Egg". the egg hatches to produce what is known as a larvae or caterpillar look like very small worms with short legs. move around the circle another 1/5 and make a drawing of a Caterpillar and label it " Caterpillar or larvae"often the caterpillar spins a silk covering around itself for protection during the pupa stage known as a cocoon. go another 1/5 around the circle make a drawing of a pupa and label it "pupa or Chrysalis" during the pupa stage a great change happens where the Caterpillar is transformed into an adult caterpillar. go another 1/5 of the way around the circle and make a drawing of the chrysalis opening and a butterfly emerging. Label it "Adult butterfly emerging from Chrysalis".Now find a place to put the tile " The life cycle of a butterfly and you are done".
No, tobacco caterpillars are not poisonous, but, like the Monarch butterfly's caterpillar, they consume plants that make them taste horrible to other animals.
Dreaming of monarch butterflies signifies troubling times ahead for you. But, like the beautiful butterfly, you will emerge from the cocoon of troubles and see great rewards. Dreaming of monarch butterflies shows you that you have the strength to make it through anything that comes your way and persevere.
