i did this with my truck (1985 Chevrolet scottsdale-305) and the best way i found to do this, is NOT by jumping straight off the starter, but by jumping straight off of the ignition switch mounted on the steering column. i looked up a wiring diagram for my specific model, found which wires ran to what (accessory, ign. and so forth) all i did was jump a toggle switch to the run circuit, and then jumped a push button to the ignition circuit. this way you can't start it unless you turn it to run position with the toggle switch.. plus you're able to turn the switch off to turn off the vehicle. i would suggest hiding the push button somewhere inconspicuous.. where your vehicle won't get stolen

You jump start the car from the jump start posts under the hood. You can then open the trunk with the button on the dash. You jump start the car from the jump start posts under the hood. You can then open the trunk with the button on the dash.
1912 Cadillac
Hold the key fob next to the start button.
1. Make sure the odometer is set to total miles and not to trip. 2. With the ignition off (this car has a start button and not a key switch) hold the trip reset button down. 3. Tap the start button one time quickly (don't start the car) after the information center lights tap the start button one more time quickly, again don't start the car. 4. The dash lights come on and a series of dashes appear where the mileage was. When these dashes count down and disappear the maintenance reminder is reset.
Ignition switch?
If you are referring to push button start almost every manufacture sells cars with this feature.
With the ignition off press and hold the odometer button (it is on the instrument cluster), turn the ignition on but do not start the car, continue holding down the odo button until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn ignition off, start car to make sure it worked.
If your 1996 Dodge Stratus wonÕt start you can try to jump start the car. There is no reset button like a computer. You can recharge your car battery with a jump start.
