Is it always necessary to have a flue liner with a wood burning stove?
I will assume that you have a masonry chimney. In the area where I sell wood stoves a stainless steel flex liner is required if the clay liner has cracks in it. It should be connected to a s\s thimble through the wall of the chimney.
