They came with 16 or 17" in 6(steels) 6.5 or 7 inch widths (aluminum rims) aluminums have 12mm offset. If they are factory rims the driver's door/jam sticker will give diameter and width, on the back of the rim spoke will also give this info and part#. If you want to measure it yourself diameter is across the rim from bead/bead (16 or 17"), width is the distance between the inner/outer lip of the rim. Backspacing is measured from a straight edge placed across the rim(facing down) to the mounting flange( example 3.5 inches), offset is the different between the backspacing and the middle of the rim, usually in MM. Negative offset push the rim farther out(more frame clearance) and positive move the rim in.

The tire and wheel size is listed on the drivers door post and in your owners manual. You measure a wheel by measuring the diameter of the wheel itself. Your Explorer came with either 16" or 17" wheels.
