The description of your problem is a little bit unclear Pull up the lock button, and then insert a screw driver or any object that will fit, into the latch mechanism on the side of the door. As you pull up on the handle, push the screw driver in an inward direction. That is to say, in the direction from the outside of the door towards the inside of the car. This is if your latch has some how gotten tripped into the door closed/latched position while the door was in the opened position.
If that is not the problem you are asking about, and you mean that the door is opened, but you cannot get the lock button or lock rocker switch to activate the locking mechanism, you have to remove any screws around the door panels and pry the panel off the door. Then you have to get inside the door visually and with your hand and follow along the locking rods and see where it is disconnected or jammed. Reconnect the rod or move whatever is keeping it from moving and that should do it.
If the second part is your problem, it is usually caused by a broken or unsecured plastic clip that secures the end of the rod to the point it disconnected, or a bent rod, or even an electrical harness inside the door that could have come loose from it securing points and blocked the rods path of movement.
You just push on it to open it. If the car is locked, the gas door will be locked also. The car needs to be unlocked in order to open the gas filler door.

The gas door is locked or unlocked with the other doors on the car. If the car doors are locked the gas door will not open. If the car is stopped with engine off and the doors unlocked you should be able to open the gas door by pushing on one side of it. If this doesn't work, you have an electrical or mechanical problem with the gas door.
