Yes, it is possible. There is software stack called 'Wine' which enables to run Windows application on Mac OS X/Linux/Unix type operating systems. Of course you should never expect full compatibility when using Wine. Not all application will be able to run or might not have expected behavior.

∙ 13y agoA .exe file is an executable file used by MS-DOS and the Windows operating system and will not work on a Mac running Mac OS X. Some .exe files can be opened as a text file in a text editor on a Mac but will appear as a sequence of mostly random characters. A Mac with an Intel processor can run the Windows operating system and can thus use an .exe file.

∙ 10y agoYou can buy a copy of Windows and with Apples Boot Camp drivers you can install Windows on another partition of your Mac and boot into a full install of Windows.
Or you can buy and install Parallels, VMWare, etc, and buy a copy of Windows then install windows via Parallels or VMWare to use Windows while booted into the Mac OS. You don't have to keep booting back and forth between the Mac OS and the Windows OS.
