Use a "C" clamp to push the caliper back into the housing. Loosen the cover on your brake fluid reservoir first. Be sure to retighten the cap when you're done.
Remove the tire and wheel from your Chevrolet Avalanche. Remove the brake spring and caliper. The brake shoes will come off. Reverse the process to install the new brake shoes.

Caliper and Disk brakes
Put emergancy brake on, then jack up the front enfd remove tires, use a 3/8 Allen tool to remove the caliper mounting bolts. Then remove the brake caliper, and remove pads from caliper. Next push piston caliper into the caliper, reinstall the caliper. Re install the front wheels, lower the vehicle, pump the brakes until they are hard once again, and your ready to drive again.

.The 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo brake caliper bolt size is 9/16. The brake caliper bolt can be purchased at most auto-parts stores
