Pair of pliers, mate. Just opened mine about 10 minutes ago with one. Might need someone to "pop" the hood for you as well if the springs in the latches are getting old.
you can get to the latch through the grill
If the door latch on a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer is broken on the car frame, a new latch might have to be welded in. The old door latch will have to be cut out with a torch. If the latch is broken on the door, a new door might be cheaper than welding in a new latch.
the hood latch is not releasing this could be due to a stuck/broken hood latch or something wrong with the release mechanism (broken/stuck cable, handle came off of cable, etc...) use screwdriver(s) through your grille to pull the lever that would be pulled from the cable. best thing to do is get a new hood latch from local parts store and look at it to figure out how it works so you know just what to press/pull/activate on the car -R. you may have a broken speedometer cable. you may have a broken speedometer cable.
If the hood release on a VW Jetta is broken, whether its the cable or the plastic piece, you will need to remove the center shield under the vehicle. It is connected by four screws. Reach up under the vehicle and manually push the hood cable down with your hands to pop it open.
Step one of one: get smart noob.
should be up and under the drivers side dash panel towards the left side.
if you can pull out the cable cut off some of the cable were you can see the wire inside and pull the cable to open
Yeah, I have the same question. My cougar has been sitting for a year now with a dead battery and no way to charge it because the hood latch broke. Anyone? Pull the trim out from around the release, grab onto the cable with pliers and pull.
The door ajar switch is part of the latch. Broken wires in the door harness is a common failure.
where is my hood latch located on my 1999 Chevy silverado pickup
The cable/linkage between the shift lever and transmission is likely broken or disconnected
