why want the trunk won't open with the remote or the inside panel
On the driver's door, push and hold the DOOR UNLOCK button until you hear the trunk lid release.

Under the panel with the keyhole on the trunk, there is a handle to open it. If that doesn't work, in the driver side door, there is a button that shows a picture of the trunk opened. Press that and the trunk will open.
The lock is behind the Lincoln emblem on the trunk. Or press the lockable trunk release button on the inside driver door panel.
When the fuel door is jammed on a 1999 VW Jetta the latch need to be reached from inside the trunk compartment. Removing the panel inside the trunk and reaching the latch from behind will open the fuel door.
Remove drivers door panel and disconnect the wires from the button and cross them, make sure you have battery power. Should open. Replace door panel.
Check the 20 amp fuse on the passenger fuse panel If you hear the relay activating, check the solenoid in the trunk.
