Rusty concrete is there such a thing?
If the concrete is rusty because it was stained by steel laying on it, that will be easy. Clean the concrete with some muratic acid (follow the instructions on the jug), rinse it, then paint it with concrete paint. Your local hardware store can provide different colors and options depending on the product line(s) they carry.
If your concrete is rusty because the rebar is rusting and the rust is bleeding through, you have a problem. You need to remove all of the spalling, loose, and unstable material from around the rebar and then patch the spot. You might be able to prep the area with a pressure washer or you might need a cold chisel. Rusting steel rebar destroys concrete because it swells and splits the concrete.
The surface needs to be sound before you paint. Painting is easy, surface prep always takes the most time.
You can indeed paint a rusty bird bath. You must first sand down the rust and then paint the bird bath.
You use concrete paint. Available in Home Depot.
I am in art school and need to work on a project. Where can I buy concrete paint online?
they are made with a paint and certin metals
No, the color in spray paint is not affected by bleach. A proprietory concrete cleaner or fine sand impregnated with solvent will reduce the appearance of the paint.
Rusty metal primer and paint.
It does depend on what kind of paint and how deep it has set in the concrete, but it certainly sounds like a good start to work on.
The first thing to do is to remove the rust. You will need to use heat resistant paint. Most stores sell a heat or stove paint that works well.
There are concrete paints available. A three step epoxy paint give a very attractive finish. Both products are available at Lowe's or Home Depot
No, concrete paint will eventually chip and peel away from the wood and eventually rot. Concrete paint does not have the same bonding and protection agents as multi-purpose paints. My advice, go to a home improvement store and buy multi-purpose primer and the shade of multi-purpose paint you want. Just be sure it says "for wood".
Paints to be used on concrete should be made especially for concrete. This is a very hard surface to cover and keep covered so it is very important a paint made especially for concrete is used.
