First Finger: Bar over all strings, 1st fret.

Second Finger: G sting, 2nd fret.

Third Finger: A string, 3rd fret.

Fourth Finger: D string, 3rd fret.

That's how to play an F on the guitar.

You play it like on any other instrument. F major consists of notes F, A and C, which can be played either at the same time (harmonically) or one after another (melodically). F minor consists of F, A flat and C.

On the bass, F is on the first fret on the lowest E string, A is the open A string and C is on the third fret of the A string.

g:|-2-

d:|-3-

a:|-3-

e:|-1-

It is not advisable to play more than one note simultaneously on a Bass Guitar. Playing three or more notes that are very close together in the low tonal range of the bass usually sounds very muddy. But you can often imply chords on a bass, either by playing the notes of the chord in question as an arpeggio (one at a time) or by playing two of the notes of the chord. An effective way of playing an F major chord, for instance, would be to play just the outer strings of the above example. That would be the first fret of the E string (F, the root of the F chord) and the second fret of the G string (which is A, the note that makes F major sound major). Because these two notes are more than an octave apart, playing them simultaneously will give you something that sounds very much like an F chord even though it's only two of the three notes.

I believe F2 is shorthand for Fsus2. To play, turn the 3rd of the chord (in this case the A) into a 2nd (in this case a G). I'm still pretty new to this so please correct me if I'm wrong. It is also sometimes helpful to do Google searches like "F2 guitar chord". Hope this helps!
