Not sure what you need answered but I have had an issue 2 times now where the hood latch won't release my hood.
In my case I had to gently using a wedge pry the front of my hood open enough that I could fit my ratchet with an extention and a 13mm socket to the bolts that hold down the latch and open my hood.
So hope it works out for you and maybe this might help too.
i would probably use a screwdriver to nudge where the latch used to be to pop it open
Pop the latch on the bottom left side below the steering wheel. Then there is a latch under the hood and lift.
Pull the hood release cable by your left foot.
make sure the cable is not sticking, do this by haveing someone pull up on the hood while you try to pop the hood. When a hood latch goes bad you have to replace it with a new one
Most hood releases consist of a latch tucked under the hood, but above the grill. If you place your fingers under the hood, usually to the right of center, you will feel the latch. You will lift the latch, and the hood should pop open enough to get your fingers under it. Then, it releases fully as you lift the lid. Two problems can occur on hood releases. One, sometimes the piece of the lever that you should lift up on has broken off. Second, sometimes the piece is there but it wont pop the hood. You could try to release using the safety latch. Or, you could try to pop the hood by placing your hands on the hood, one on each side off center. "bounce" your hands forcefully in a down-up motion and you should hear the hood latch "pop". Use your fingers to try to lift the hood. Sometimes you have to repeat the bouncing motion several times before the hood releases.
Actually it should only pop the hood a little bit, the interior latch release is an anti theft device designed to keep people out of your engine compartment. The second latch release inside the grille is meant to completely open the hood, the double latch system also saves you from having the hood hit the windshield if the latch fails while driving, or you forget to latch it completely.
you have to trip the upper latch clip do do this you need a l bend rod to push under the hood and push the clip to rhe out side edge of the fender to pop the latch
To "pop the hood" first pull the hood release inside the car. It is on the drivers side next to the door and below the dash. Then outside the car release the hood safely latch, and raise the hood. Then put the hood prop up.
take a long thin screwdriver and stick it into the "hole" where the cable goes into the latch. Pry from right to left, this will pop the hood. I just had it happen to my 2000 Dakota.
First check to see that the hood is shut tight. then operate the hood release then go around to the front of the hood and give the nose of the hood a firm thump down with the side of your fist. Many times this will release the hood latch. Once open, lubricate the latch and stretch the pop up spring out a little with your hand.
under dash at bottom of steering column and pull latch under hood to the right
Classic problem with Spyder. The latch cable has problems releasing the engine latch. Pull hood release inside car then go arround to back and push down on hood. It should pop the latch. Try several times if that doesnt work the first time.
