First, you want to start by showing the kitten the litter box. Then if it starts to use the bathroom on the carpet try to be quick as you can and take the kitten to the litter box. If your kitten uses the litter box by her or his self you want to praise him or her and give them a treat.

In general, you don't. THEY train you. I usually place a litter box in a convenient place (convenient for both of us), I show it the food, I try to limit its access to certain places (cupboards, kitchen tables, wardrobes a.s.o.), I make its beds (several, because one night it might feel like sleeping on an armchair, not where you want it to sleep). Keep in mind that it will take it several weeks to adapt to a completely new environment; it will have to study it, to mar it at his/hers, to make it cat-friendly, while tring at the same time to preserve its habits from its street-life years. Be patient, you might find it rewarding, but don't expect the gratitude you would get from a dog!

Most cats do not need to be trained to use a litter box. They don't like pooping/peeing all over the house, and prefer to have a litter box to use. When I brought my two cats home from the shelter, one was an adult and needed absolutely no training. The other was a 2 week-old kitten that had been living on the streets of New York City. She was not trained to use a litter box, so the first time she pooped, she pooped on my kitchen mop. All I had to do was give her a gentle slap on the bottom and say, "NO!" Then I brought her upstairs and put her in the litter box. She kind of looked around at it, and that was it. She never went outside the litter box again.

Try that first. If that doesn't work, I have included some links that may help you. One of them says not to do what I did (gentle slap, "NO!" and then putting her in the box), but obviously it worked for me. I think the trick is not to scare the cat, or make it think you are punishing it. Just be gentle, but firm.

just put the kittens on the litter box, they will catch on immediately, cats are predisposed to use a litter box and groom themselves. They will not catch on you should put a tray with cat liter or newspaper and make sure the do not eat it.

they usually don't need to be trained they are very clean so if you get them a litter box and leave it in one spot they will use it because they need a spot to do their business

How do you train your cat to stop using the litter tray?

How odd. Most people want to train their cats to use the litter tray, not to train them to stop using it. If you don't want your cat to use the litter tray, that's easy; remove the tray. If the tray is not there, the cat cannot use it. Move the litter tray outdoors to get your cat used to going outside and then, eventually, remove the litter tray completely.

How do you train a cat to use a pee pad?

Same way you get them to use the toilet, first put the litter box where you want the pads, after about a week put little litter in box, after another week take all the litter out and put a pad in once the cat is used to this take the box away but put a small pile of litter on the pad. Then take the litter away. The thing is a box is probably better, using pads causes a much stronger cat urine smell.

Where does your cat use the bathroom?

In a litter box.

Your cat poops on the the floor What do you do?

You must train your cat to use the little box. Cat's should naturally use it, as long as they know where it is, due to their desire to dig and hide their waste. It is possible your cat is sick and doesn't have time to make it to the litter box.

When can we use the word doesn't?

The word "doesn't" is the contraction of "does not" and is used in present simple tense to show negation with third-person singular subjects. For example, "He doesn't like coffee" or "She doesn't play the piano."

Why is your cat not using litter box?

The litter box may not be clean enough for the cat or the cat feels uncomfortable in the litter box; a litter box should be cleaned every day or every second day, depending on how many cats you have. Maybe the cat does not know where the litter box is, if you move the litter box and don't show the cat its new location the cat won't know where the box is. The cat also mightn't be trained to use a litter box properly and might need a little help using it. Also, if a cat is very old, they mightn't realise they have to use the litter box or they do not have time to get to the litter box before they urinate etc. . The cat could also be sick.if your cat is just a kitten then the box might be too clean the kitten must smell where the toilet is.

How do you get a kitten to use the litter box?

This is a very common question to all cat/kitten owners. Kittens are much easier to train. These are a list of steps of how to get your animal to use the litter box. 1 Find a decent size litter box with sides low enough for your cat to get in and out 2 Pour 1-2 inches of cat litter in the bin 3 After meals and naps take the cat to the litter box and put it in 4 The cat should immediately start to dig and remove its waste in the whole it dug then it will cover it back up -this is natural instinct-if it doesn't do this don't panic just keep doing it and it will get the hang of it 5 If the cat doesn't do anything take its paw and make a digging motion in it a few times 6 After the cat does its buisness give it a treat to ensure confidence 7 It may take a few weeks for your cat to start to use the litter box but 95% of cats/kittens will use it properly within the next 3 weeks- the other 5% of cats and kittens will learn eventually and it will just take time.

Is there a medical reason that a cat would not use a litter box?

Is it Ok to have a cat litter box in your room while being pregnant My cat litter box is in a storage room that is connected to my bedroom in an appartment I have no where else to put it?

It should be safe with a few precautions. Use the long handled plastic scoops to take the urine & feces out of the cat litter. Put this in another bag and take out to the garbage can. Use the self clumping type of cat litter. Don't use your hands and if you have to touch anything in the litter box, put some plastic gloves on first. Be sure to wash your hands after each time you clean up the litter box. Keep the litter box as clean as you can.

How do you stop a cat peeing on the carpet?

you have to train your cat that its not a good thing to pee on the floor, 1.scold and punish it when it pees on the floor 2.reward and praise it when it uses the litter box this tells your cat that using the litter box is a good thing and peeing on the floor is a bad thing.
