The simplest way to make iced tea is to boil 2 quarts of water and add 6 to 8 normal size tea bags or 1 or 2 quart size teabags. You can also pour the water over the teabags in a pitcher. Make a simple sugar syrup to sweeten if desired.

Two Methods of Brewing Iced Tea

(Makes 2 Quarts - 1/2 gallon)

Regardless of which method you use, ALWAYS use a glass or Stainless Steel pan to boil the water. Never use aluminum cookware. Aluminum cookware gives the tea a funky taste. Also, aluminum has been implicated as one possible contributor to the development of Alzheimer's disease. Acids, such as the tannin in tea, coffee, cola, etc., and even the boiling of the water causes aluminum to leech into the tea. The "funky taste" that I mentioned is evidence of that.

Method 1:

* Bring 4 cups (1 quart) of fresh water to a boil

* Pour water over 2 "Family Size" tea bags (I prefer Tetley brand) * Steep for 3-5 minutes. Longer steeping time makes stronger tea * Add sweetener to taste, if sweetened tea is desired * Pour into a 2-quart pitcher * Add 4 cups (1 quart) of cold water * Adjust sweetness if needed*

* Chill * Serve over ice. * Garnish with lemon slice for those who like lemon in their tea.

Method 2 (saves time, and is just as good as Method 1):

* Place 2 family size tea bags into a stainless steel pan * Add 4 cups (1 quart) of fresh water * Bring water to a boil * Immediately remove from heat and set aside for 1 (one) minute. * Using a pair of table spoons, squeeze liquid from the tea bags back into the pan and discard the used tea bags * Add sweetener to taste * Pour into a 2-quart pitcher * Add 4 cups of cold water * Adjust sweetness if needed*

* Chill * Serve over ice * Garnish with lemon slice for those who like lemon in their tea.

* The rule of thumb for sweetened tea using sugar is 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar per 1/2 gallon of tea, depending on how sweet the individual likes his or her tea. Adding the sugar to the hot tea before adding cold water helps the sugar to dissolve faster. It's hard to dissolve sugar in cold liquid.

To make iced tea, plan out the amount of iced tea you want to brew, and note (either from your preferences, or the instructions on the tea packet, tea bag, or loose-leaf tea) how much tea you would use and the time you would steep the tea for if making hot tea.

You can make iced tea out of any kind of tea, but the traditional choice is a strong, brisk black tea, or, less commonly, a brisk green tea. Herbal teas, especially tangy ones containing hibiscus, are also very good iced.

Then, steep the tea, but use less water (you want to leave room for ice and/or cold water). Often, the fastest and most energy-efficient way to brew iced tea is to brew a small amount of very strong tea and then water it down with cold water and ice.

Some people like adding lemon or fresh mint leaves. Mint and lemon balm also make outstanding herbs to blend with iced tea, as they have a cool, fresh quality to them.

what is the purpose of adding baking soda? im baffled!

I'm improving this answer because the last one obviously did not consider the preservatives and artificial sweeteners found in tea packets. Get some tea leaves (powder or shredded), baking soda, water. Mix the tea leaves with hot water, do this for around 5 minutes, longer if you prefer a more bitter tea. Refrigerate, add sugar to your preference. Voila, you just made some homemade tea, if you want to get a further experience try growing tea plants.

Homemade iced tea can be made by mixing 8 tea bags in a large pitcher with 4 cups of boiling water. Let that steep for 5 to 10 minutes depending on preferred strength, remove and discard the teabags. Add 4 cups of cold water and sugar to taste. Chill for at least one hour before serving.

Fill a two quart heavy glass about a third with boiling water to make a strong infusion. After steeping for long enough to let the liquid cool down. fill up the jug with cold water and stir then add lemon slices. The inclusion of mint is a must. And finally you will get a iced tea without sugar. Hopefully you got it for which you are looking for.

Which is right ice tea or iced tea?

I would assume iced tea. Ice tea would suggest the primary compound being ice, so that the tea itself is composed of mainly ice. Iced tea refers to the status of being iced, or in ice. This would probably make more sense. I mean... try making tea out of ice without melting it. Hope I awnswered your question.

Can iced tea burn you?

Of course not! You can tell by its name, ICED tea. Maybe regular tea could burn you, but iced tea really shouldn't be hot enough to burn you. Iced tea could burn you if it was chilled with dry ice. But technically, it would be the dry ice that burns and not the tea!
