Hi, from all I've read about it on the net, (and in my 2003 Olds Silhouette owner's manual) you cannot program the PK3 key yourself UNLESS you have at least one already programmed PK3 (master) key. You must go to your dealer if you don't have at least one programmed (original) PK3 key,..they have the special equipment to do it.
The dealership can generally program a new transponder key based on the VIN. Most good locksmiths can reproduce the key, but would need the original to do so.
Take your VIN and proof of ownership to the dealership and they can get you a new key.
This can only be done by a GM dealer.
how to program a new key 2008 mitsubishi colt
Programming a new cut key is easy. Take the original key and insert it into the ignition switch and turn the ignition on. Then, turn it off and remove the original key. You then have 15 seconds to insert the new key and turn the ignition on. Leave it on a few seconds and then turn it off and remove it. That's it. You should be good to go with the new key now. I was.
You need a working key. You will need to have the dealer or a locksmith cut and program a new key.You need a working key. You will need to have the dealer or a locksmith cut and program a new key.
its not possible you need a minimmum of two keys to program a new key you need your old key and a new one sorry.
If you have an original key you can do it very easily with that. Buy a new key with the chip in it and get it cut (usually only about 2-3 bucks) Place the existing key in the ignition and turn it to full power up, without starting it for 2 or 3 seconds. Turn it off and then place the new key in and do the same thing but let it sit that way for 3-4 minutes. This should program the new chip without having to pay the 30-100 for the dealer to do. The new key with a chip will run about 30 at the dealer, but if you look on eBay for blank "chip" keys, you can find them for 10-15 dollars. Good luck! I actually got this info from a service tech at Chevy who was a friend of mine. I tried it, and it worked.
