In early Hebrew, this name was spelt 'YHWH' without the vowels or vowel indicators of later Hebrew. As a result, its pronumciation is uncertain. Scholars believe that with vowels the name would be spelt 'Yahweh' and pronounced something like YARWAY.
How is the Name Yahweh pronounced? There are diverse transliterations or transcriptions of the name Yahweh. There are diverse pronunciations of this Name that have been proposed. No scholars of the Hebrew language accept and agree upon the pronunciation Yahweh [Yah-way]. It is also said that the Name Yahweh is unpronounceable and ineffable and that the true pronunciation has been lost because of its superstitious disuse.

Note: The word 'Yahweh' is fully Christian English in origin and is based on a misunderstanding of Jewish tradition regarding the pronunciation of the tetragrammaton, the 4 letter contraction of the Hebrew words for "was, is, and will be". The Hebrew letters in question are: yud, hei, vav, hei (YHVH). As for why the correct pronunciation is unknown today, the letter 'vav' has three distinctly different pronunciations (V, OO, OH) and there is no record of which form was used in the tetragrammaton. As to how the English word 'Yahweh' is pronounced, different Christian groups have different pronunciations including Yah-weh and Yah-way. The word itself has never been used by Jews.

NOTE: The above has a couple of misstatements in it.

First - The pronunciation of this sacred name has not been lost. It was simply hidden from public broadcast. The idea that the 6th letter of the Habrew aleph bet is pronounced as a 'v, oo, or oh' is partially correct. In modern Ashkenazic this is true. In the older Hebrew this is not so clear; it may have had the 'w' sound instead of the 'v' sound. And it may have had both depending on the dialect of the speaker. Also, there is records in the three major codices of the Hebrew text that it was pronounced as Yəhowah or Yəhovah.

Second - The last sentence is a complete false statement. At least as late as the middle 1940's fathers taught their sons HOW to say this name of the Creator. Even in the scriptures we have records of it being used as a general greeting and as a method of entering into oaths of great importance and showing that one's statements were to be trusted. In the book of Ruth we see, in the Hebrew at least, that people greeted one another with a blessing using Yəhowah.

Well my sister-in-law told me that Jehovah is pronounced like this..

Je-ho-va .. the (H) is silent so its basiclly sound like this Jehova..even thoung it spelled Jehovah
