The cure for covetousness is to practice gratitude at a profound level. When I'm in a state of gratitude for even the simplest of my blessings- gorgeous skies, water when I'm thirsty, work to be done- I don't have the time or desire to covet what others have.
Covetousness in its self is unseen except in its actions. So, first covetousness is spirtiual and an act of the soul. One must recognize its nature and its a sin of the heart. To be free you must esteem others more than your self. Doesn't mean they are better; just that you don't think more of youself than them. The only way to do this is through accepting, submitting and developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
