To do this you need to be running some type of remote desktop protocol (RDP) in Windows, or the equivalent in Unix/Linux.

You can enable this in a server and use the client to connect to the server which will show the server's desktop on the workstation. Terminal services can also be used for this purpose.

There are also several third-party packages which will accomplish this as well. When you log into the server using RDP or its equivalent you will see the desktop of the server.

how to configure VDI?

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a technology that allows users to access a virtual desktop from any device with an internet connection. VDI typically involves creating a virtual desktop image, or template and then deploying that image to a central server. Users can then access the virtual desktop from any device by connecting to the server through a remote desktop protocol (RDP) client. To configure VDI, you will need to perform the following steps: Set up a server: You will need to set up a server to host the virtual desktops. This can be a physical or virtual server, depending on your needs. Install virtualization software: Next, you will need to install virtualization software, such as VMware or Hyper-V, on the server. This software will be used to create and manage the virtual desktops. Create a virtual desktop image: Using the virtualization software, create a virtual desktop image that includes the operating system, applications, and settings that you want users to access. Deploy the virtual desktop image: Use the virtualization software to deploy the virtual desktop image to the server. This will create a copy of the virtual desktop for each user. Configure the remote desktop protocol (RDP) client: Install an RDP client, such as Remote Desktop Connection, on each device that users will use to access the virtual desktop. Configure the client to connect to the server hos-ting the virtual desktops. Assign user permissions: Use the virtualization software to assign permissions to each user, specifying which virtual desktops they can access and what actions they are allowed to take. By following these steps, you can configure VDI and set up a virtual desktop environment that allows users to access a consistent, centralized desktop from any device.

What is a network workstation and a server?

A network is an information system usually localized within a set area (buildings, or multiple sites). These multiple sites have terminals or work stations which can access the network amongst them. The mainframe or server is what manages the network through hardware and physical backing-up of the network itself.

The Best Place to Install a Server?

If your business is preparing to install a server, there are some things you should consider about the placement of the server. You will want the server to be located in a place that is only accessible to people who are qualified to use it, so make sure that wherever you end up placing the server it is a secure location. Small Side Rooms or Closets Servers do not need much room to perform their jobs. You really only need enough space to stack the server, arrange a comfortable desktop workstation with a chair, and be able to run the appropriate wiring into the rest of the building. Make sure the room is large enough for you to move around in comfortably once the equipment has been loaded in. Today’s servers are extremely small and will fit in the same area that a desktop computer would fit in comfortably. Make Sure the Server Room is Well Ventilated Your server will need to stay at an even, cool temperature all of the time. Servers and their accessories tend to give off quite a bit of heat. It is important that the server room has a good vent from the air conditioner so that it can stay as cool as possible to keep the machines running smoothly. If the server overheats it could damage your network and your data. Some businesses keep large fans running in their server rooms to protect the servers from becoming too warm. A Central Location is Easiest The server will need to be wired to a network that travels to every workstation in the building. It is much easier to create that wired network if the server is as centrally located as possible. Remember that someone will need to run the wires through the walls, ceilings, or floors and into each workstation cubicle. If the server is kept at one end of the office, you will have to run the wires much further to reach the workstations that are located at the other end of the office. Locating the server in a central room makes the job of networking much easier for everyone who is involved in the initial setup.

What is the difference between a desktop and a server?

a web server is usally rack mounted and is very powerful where as a desktop PC can be set up as a server PC desktop PC's are suited to raphival applctaions and many servers don't have sreens A server is a repository of information and a gateway to other sources of information (e.g. the internet). Depending on the number of workstations it serves and the type of information they are accessing the server may be quite powerful or it may be an old P4 system made into a server. Again, its main job is to store information so that the connected workstations can use it and to provide a gateway to other sources of information namely the Internet. The software used for servers is specifically designed for those tasks. An example of a simple server is a modern router - either wireless or wired. It contains its own server software, typically a form of Linux, and acts as a gateway to the internet allowing connected workstations to access it. It also provides some protection in the form of firewalls and passwords.
