You can't. The 1st and 2nd generation iPod nanos won't play videos, only the new 3rd generation iPod nano will play video That previous answer is true for the 2nd gen iPod Nano, but for the 1st gen iPod Nano there are two available programs that you can use. iPod Linux (http://ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net/) or Rock Box (http://www.rockbox.org/) both enable you to play both Videos and Games on the 1st generation iPod Nano. Just take heed that it can mess up your iPod if you don't know what you're doing, though that can be fixed by going into iTunes and restoring it. Unfortunately the community who helped make iPod Linux & Rock Box have yet to work on the 2nd Generation iPod Nano. Sorry I couldn't help you much for getting videos on the 2nd Gen. iPod Nano, but this should help those who have the 1st gen.
First, you should use a DVD Ripper so as to rip DVD to other formats ipod support. (iPod supports MP4 (supported by iPod, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic etc.), MOV (Quick time video), M4V (standard video for iPod and PSP)) Second, add ripped DVDs to itunes, and sync itunes with iPod manually.

You can use a program called Handbrake. It is freeware and it will convert a DVD movie from the disc into a file that an iPod will accept. This will only work if you have an iPod with Video capabilities. (all new iPod Nano, Classic and Touch have this)Avalible on...Mac OSWindowsLinux CLI
Yes, u can do it. but the video foramt u recorded maybe not compatible with ur ipod. because not all videos are compatible with iPod. First of all, You have to convert DVD/Video to iPod supported video format. here i wanna share a wonderful Video Converter with u - SnowFox DVD & Video to iPod Converter. I believe so, however not directly, but by "burning" the video(s) on a blank CD and than playing the CD in the DVD "box."
