The simplest and most cost effective way to add air conditioning to any car that did not come from the factory with it is to purchase a kit.
There are a number of manufacturers producing aftermarket AC kits. Most of these kits will likely run between $1500 and $2500. For that, you'll usually get the compressor, evaporator, condenser, hoses, receiver/dryer and control systems. Most kits take between 8 and 12 hours for installation by a professional. Most kits can be installed at home if you're feeling industrious.
Please note that properly charging the installed system requires a professional with specialized equipment. This is NOT something that should be done at home.
