If you've worked the same job for different employers, list each position -- and job -- separately on your resume.

If you've worked in a similar job for the same employer more than once, combine both experiences on your resume and summarize the dates at the top of the description.

Create separate descriptions for each time you worked at the company and list the years you did that job at the beginning of the section. When you list your experience, start in reverse chronological order and describe the most recent job first.

Example:

Microsoft, Redmond, WA, 2000 - 2004, 2010 - Present

  • Senior Marketing Manager (2010 - Present): Design and oversee strategy to market three lines of new products in North America and Europe. Lead team of ten.
  • Marketing Manager (2000 - 2004): Implemented campaigns for Microsoft Outlook at six colleges and universities.

What type of resume is and results-oriented resume?

A results oriented resume is most likely referring to a combination format resume where your skills and experience are highlighted first in major skill groups followed by your employment history and education information. This format is very effective to those who have changes careers or jobs recently and want to place more emphasis on their overall skills and experience vs. the actual locations in which they worked when someone is reading their resume.

What looks better on a high school resume volunteering or working?

You can't really put one over the other. If you did, you might say working is more important, but there is more to it than that. With a resume you put on it what you have done. So if you've worked and you've been a volunteer, then you put on both things. Your work experience would always come first when laying out the resume. If you are not applying for a job, but just creating resume, you would still put the work experience first and the volunteering later in the resume. If you are applying for a job and the volunteering was closer to the kind of job you are applying for than the work you've done, then it increases the significance of the volunteering. So what you are applying for is a factor. In the exact same resume, for a different kind of job, the volunteering might not be as important. If the kind of work you've done is close to the kind of job you are applying for, then it increases its significance. If you had worked and volunteered in the same kind of thing as the job you are applying for is, the employer will look at the work as being more important than the volunteering, but they would see the volunteering as being important too.

Landing a Job with a Good Resume?

If your resume is a few years old, there is a good chance that it needs to be spruced up and organized a bit. Many people carry around the same resume that they may have had 10 or even 20 years ago. These resumes are old and outdated because it has been so long since they were worked on. Old resumes that are not very well organized will not look good to potential employers. It pays to redo the resume entirely using downloadable resume templates that you can get for free and have right on your own computer. When sprucing up your resume, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. Everything in the resume needs to be organized well so that it is clear and concise. Employers will pay you more attention if your resume is easy to read and is organized well. Cluttered resumes or templates that look too busy will not look good and you could have trouble finding a new job by having a resume that is like this. The best thing for you to do would be to find a great quality resume template that is easy for you to personalize. The great thing about downloadable resume templates is that they are often free to use and they can also be easy to customize for your own job applications. You need only add a variety of information and fill in the blanks on the resume. This will make things much easier for you when you are trying to create something that will attract the attention of a potential employer. You will definitely have a lot more chance of getting a job if the resume itself is completely professional and is something that employers would like to see from their applicants. If you keep finding that you can not get a job despite the number of applications you are sending in, it may have a lot to do with the resume that you currently have. By using a free resume template, you will be able to create a great application that will give you more chance of getting a job.

How should a resume for an executive be different?

msoexpert'sActually, an executive's resume, which I've prepared many times, is not really different from anybody else's. The only real difference is in the level of responsibility. An executive is considered to be at a higher level and more directly responsible for things. So the main focus is on areas like: leadership, managerial style, sales and marketing, budgeting, etc.Non-executives don't have as much direct responsibility and are more in supportative roles. But a resume is basically a resume! They all should focus on what that candidate has and is capable of doing. An executive's resume is more geared for the managerial-side of things rather than the support-side.As for length, they're not always longer! It all depends on how much experience that executive happens to have and the resume writer. I've put together ones that are 1 page and others that are longer. And in some businesses, being concise and to the point is what they want to see.For example, someone who's been a Sales Manger for 5 years and now wants to apply for Vice President of Sales won't necessarily have a 2 page resume. But someone who's been working for 25 years, in different industries and/or jobs, may need a longer resume. Not necessarily, but perhaps due to more experience. There's no rule other than it really shouldn't go over 2 pages long. But other than that, it's open to opinion. The most important thing with any resume is making sure it looks professional and says the right things! Length is secondary. Here are a few tips from Resume Edge, an online consulting group that frequently optimizes executive resumes:An executive resume is almost always more than one page.Just because an executive resume is long, doesn't mean it should be wordy. Because the number of applicants for an executive position is generally not as large as for lower-level positions, every word of an executive's resume will be read many times before a decision is made.As a general rule, executive resumes should be conservative in style. For more advice on how to write an executive resume, including format, samples, etc., click on the link.
