Easy job.
Drain coolant, remove upper radiator hose, remove fan shroud (might need to remove cowl brace), remove clutch fan (use rented removal tool if necessary), unbolt water pump.
I did it in like, three hours my first time.
Water pump attaching bolts: 30 ft-lbf Fan-to-water pump attaching bolts: 200 inch-pounds
A 1988 Dodge van would have throttle body fuel injection.
With a 36mm wrench and a spanner to hold the water pump pulley.
The factory installed pump would have been a bolt on. Most replacements have pressed on pulleys.

Inside the oil pan at the rear of the engine.
Loosen the belt with the tensioner pulley. Take the belt off. Drain the water from the cooling system. Remove the hose. Remove the retaining bolts from the water pump. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.
I have a 1987 Dodge D100 318 and the fuel pump was at the front of the engine underneath where the air compressor/a'c pump is at. looking at the front of the truck it is on the lower left side almost directly behind radiator The 1989 should be fuel injected which will mean the pump is in the tank.
bearing went in pump you need to replace the pump now
