Take it to a mechanic.... use a 12 mm extended ratchet to loosen the accessory belt tensioner (remove belt) Unbolt the alternator from the engine chassis and unplug the positive and negative terminals. New Alternator Costs about $200, New Starter Costs the Same.
The safety fuel shut off location on a 1991 Mazda MX6 is under the dash. It is on the far right side in front of the passenger seat.

Change your alternator
plenty of things could be a starter, alternator, ignition switch, bad spark...
ok buddy , i am talking about 1993 Mazda mx6 4 cyl. when you look down you can see the one side of the alternator . put your hand on the back side which you can't see you will find a mounting bolt .you will feel it with your hand . that needs to be loosened first before you can loosen that the long tension bar . good luck , i just replaced the drive belts today ...ouff azzaro
Hi there, I can't say for certain, but on my 1992 Mazda MX6 it's located directly beneath the bonnet release lever. .
On a 1994 Mazda MX-6 : Both the 2.0 liter four cylinder engine and the 2.5 liter V6 engine have a timing BELT
mx6 got no moonroof - only a sunroof and YES its interchangeable
first the spring puts tension on the belt, then you tighten the tensioner assembly and it hold there.
Hi there , I have just changed the pressure sensor switch on my MX6 , it is located fairly centrally on the engine facing the radiator.There is a small wire that is routed across the alternator so it can be found by tracing that .I had to change the alternator and broke this by accident , you might have to remove the alternator to get to it first depending on the size of your hands and arms ,Mazda has the replacement parts and can be bought for a few pounds .Hope its helpful !!
