Under the axle tube directly below the leaf springs ( factory jack used with Explorer )
You can put the jack under the shock towers on the front, or the cross brace on the rear.
they are struts you must take out the old strut, take the springs out and put them in the new struts
Take off the old ones put on the new ones
This information is found in your owner's manual and where the jack is stored. I don't have the original jack or owners manual.
I believe you can put springs and shocks... I would get all the stuff you need from a local junkyard out of a Ford Expedition this way you will be able to do it with no problems.
On a 1999 Ford Explorer ( using the factory jack ) Front tire ( there are " hooks " on the front of the lower control arms ) Rear tire ( under the axle tube , below the leaf spring )
The installers never put them in the same place & do not tell their owner's for security reasons.
Open the compartment on the left side of the luggage area. Take the jack ludge from the inside of the compartment cover and use it to lower the jack about one inch. Remove the jack when there is enough space between the top bracket and the jack to remove it. To put it back simply lower it, put it back and extend it to make sure it does not move during driving.
On a 2000 Ford Explorer : The jack is stored in the cargo area , behind the removable plastic panel on the drivers side , near the liftgate Lower the jack down and then raise the jack by hand so the top of the jack is held securely by the vehicle bracket
you just put a ''jack'' jack!
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : On the front of the lower control arms you will see a hook ( or bar ) The factory jack is put there to change a front tire
