The key less remote doesn't usually lose its programming. Usually it is the vehicle that gets reset. However, you would have to put more information about the make and model of your vehicle to get that type of help. You could also try "ProgramYourRemote.com"

The 1989 Buick Park Avenue does not come with a remote keyless entry. The keyless remote entry was not available till 1997.

Check the battery in the remote, if it is still good then get out the owners manual and read up on how to reprogram your remote because it may have unlearned the frequency for your van
