How do you realace a rear door latch-handle on a 2001 Toyota sienna?

Open the hatch. Look up at the inside of the hatch door...there's a pull strap and a pull handle...both have flip tabs on them. Insert standard US-type screwdriver into tab slot and pop them open. Remove handle and strap. These are the only screws holding that hatch's inner lining in place...everything else holding it in is clips.

Gently pull the lining off. YOu may have to work your way around the lining, a bit at a time, but it'll come off.

Once off, you can get at the inner nuts holding the door latch in place. Remove the nuts, and the latch will be free. Pay attention to how it's attached to the rest of the closure mechanism.

Install the new latch, connecting all the parts.

You may have to re-attach the plastic vapor barrier lining if your model has it. Duct Tape works for this.

Before you put it all back together, tho, lube all moving parts and nuts with a rust inhibitor.
