With a can of freon
Was built for R12, should be converted to R134a
You probably need to recharge the freon.
I need a step by step print out of how to recharge my 2001 Ford Escape XLT. I plan on refilling with R-134 Freon. Can you help me?
Passenger side of vehicle up next to firewall.Type your answer here...
The high and low Freon valves are located on the air conditioning compressor. Use the low Freon valve to recharge the air conditioning system.
My 1992 E-150 holds 16 ozs of freon but the max on most Ford vans is 24 ozs
It costs about $120 to pump down and recharge the freon in an A/C.
91 will have r-12 freon but can be converted to r-134a easily
I have a 2001, and the recharge port is on the passenger side, on the firewall. It's got a green cap on it and so far has been impossible to get to. Good luck.
R 12 was used when the 1992 Explorer came from the factory
You need a vacuum pump, gauges and freon. Take it to someone who does this work. A refrigeration guy can do it.
