- Point a camcorder at your tv. This is the worst way.

- Proview XLR - $100
- Elgato video capture - $100
The two most popular options for recording in HD (They both cost $200)
EyeTV HD:
It comes with eyetv3 $80 (Amazing software)
It records up to 720p (crappy)
and you need to buy splitters
Hauppauge HD PVR:
records up to 1080i
plenty of outputs on the back
If you want to record in HD I recommend buying the Hauppauge HD PVR.

((Look in youtube to see how to upload videos from Windows Movie Maker)) If you are a consol gamer ((Xbox 360, PS3, Wii etc.)) then get a screen capture card. If you are using handheld devices such as DS, Gmaeboy, etc then you'll have to record with a regular video camera and play at the same time.

sorry no you can not. the VGA port on laptops are only output not input. you will have to buy a capture card like "EasyCap" or something. fraps has a free version but to unlock the full program you will have to buy it.

To record you Xbox 360 gameplay, you will have to purchase a capture card. You plug the component cables of the 360 into the cap card and then plug another set of wires from the cap card to your TV. If you have a wired cap card, it plugs into the computer and the software will record it. If you have a wireless cap card it wirelessly connects to your computer and records that way.
