A KX85 just needs regular green premixed engine coolant. To replace the coolant in the engine system, simply drain the current coolant and refill. There is no need to flush the system before replacing.
You need a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze.

fail safe mode is for the 4.6 L V8 engine only - it means that you have lost your engine coolant - find the cause of the coolant leak and repair it , then refill your coolant system
If the engine coolant is rusty color you would need to have the engine cooling system flushed and then a new 50 / 50 mixture of preferably distilled water and antifreeze used to refill the system
What does your owner's manual say to use? If low silicate is not listed then drain and refill with the proper coolant.
when you open the hood there will be a yellowish white tank near the top left hand corner of the engine compartment. this is the coolant tank. there will be markings on the side for the levls the coolant should be at when the engine is hot and when it is cold. make sure the coolant you put in is the same colour as the stuff in the tank
The plastic coolant reservoir on the fender feeds directly into the coolant system. Just add coolant to the reservoir and if you have drained the coolant or otherwise emptied the system, you may need to check the level in the reservoir after running the engine, or more accurately, after the engine has cooled. Once the coolant level has stabilized, just check it periodically to make certain that the coolant level never gets too low.
A 2003 Ford Expedition will take 5 gallons to refill the radiator. Ford recommends you use Motorcraft Premium Gold engine coolant.
