There is a covered compartment in the boot floor which contains a wire with a plastic handle that you pull to release the parking brake. When the back seats are popped up, the compartment separates the two "holes" that the seats fold into.
does this happen when you want to reverse on a hill?, if so, the handbrake sensor thinks the car is slipping and keeps the handbrake engaged, so you need to manually release the handbrake by pulling it (exactly the same way as you engaged it) Hope this helps Robert
For this to be done, you have to remove the carpet cover under the central panel case and then push the yellow part.
Release the handbrake
The handle is there to release the electric parking brake if it fails to release and sticks on. Lift the flap in the floor panel and pull the handle upwards, this should release the parking brake. You can then Drive the vehicle but note NO HANDBRAKE to park leave in gear with foot brake on before turning off the ignition. Otherwise you will have a runaway!!! Oh estimated cost to reset it all £500.00 or spondooolics!!!!!! NASTY Mr RENAULT!!!!
It is very easy to adjust the handbrake on a Vectra C. All you need to do is remove the rear console and release the handbrake. Under the handbrake is a cable with a white end fitting, push down the end fitting onto the plastic locking device. Then pull the lever and it will be adjusted.
When you release the handbrake, the vehicle may begin to lurch.
The flap locks and unlocks with the central locking so it should unlock either with the plip key or the button next to the handbrake. It if fails to unlock then the solenoid is faulty but you can release it by removing the drivers' side light cover in the boot and pulling on the cable.

Yes! I just discovered this for myself and am so relieved. Engine must be on and in park. Step 1: With handbrake on, pump brake pedal twice, then release handbrake. Step 2: Hold down brake pedal, pump handbrake twice, then release brake pedal. Step 3: With handbrake on, pump brake pedal twice, then release handbrake. Notice steps 1 and 3 are the same. The skid light will illuminate to confirm that it's been disabled. It will only stay disabled until the next start up. I got this info from rav4world.com so I have to give them credit. But I tried it just today and it works like a charm.
Release the handbrake, pump the brake pedal a few times to settle the brakes, then apply and release the handbrake a few times. The rear brakes are self adjusting so be careful not to over do it or you will end up locking the your drums. If this does not work, then you need to get the tools out. Jack the rear of the car up, use axle stands for safety. Slacken off the handbrake cable adjuster nut, lift handbrake lever up 4 clicks, tighten handbrake cable adjuster nut until it takes up the slack, check rear drums rotate freely, job done.
theres a black box under engine with a + sign on it lift it up and put red jump lead to it and the black jump lead goes to the bonnet release catch
