FIRST YOU TAKE THE ACCESE PANEL OFF UNDER THE STEERINGWHEEL THEN REMOVE THE TWO CALUM BOLTS BUT BE SURE NOT TO LET THE ROD DROP CAUSE YOULL HAVE TO TAK TOP APART ON TOP THE CALUM THER IS WHERE YOULL FIND THE SWITCH
The turn signal lever is the dimmer switch. You either pull it back or push it in. but also the dimmer switch its self is in the steering column u have to take the steering wheel off to replace
Replace the complete switch in the steering column, you have to pull the steering wheel off and then you can take the top cover off the steering column and get to the switch.
Check the dimmer switch and the electrical connections.

On the turn signal stalk
there is at the passenger side under the dashboard, there are 3 pieces, a flasher, horn relay and the big box is the dimmer switch.
In the steering column.
The dimmer switch is on the dashboard just to the right hand side of the steering wheel
on the left side of the steering column... under the steering wheel.
Base of the steering column.
The dimmer switch, on your 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, is located on the lower left hand portion of the dashboard. The dimmer switch is just below the heat vent.
