What are the ingredients in Gila window film application solution?
I think the answer is right on the Gila site, under the vinyl window films "how to" instructions: http://www.gilafilms.com/Residential/Vinyl-film-application.htm . It looks like you can use baby shampoo, diluted with distilled water. I'm going to try this on my window. From the site: "GILA Window Film Application Solution is ready to use. Do not dilute or mix with water. If you are using GILA Film Aid concentrate, fill a pump or trigger-spray bottle with a solution made of 1qt.-distilled water and a bottle of Film Aid (if Film Aid is not available,1/4 tsp of a no-tears baby shampoo without conditioner will suffice). GILA Application Solution and/or Film Aid offer the best drying clarity and pH balance. Do not use hard tap water, concentrated, or degreaser detergent, which can leave spots under the film. VERY IMPORTANT: This solution ("the Solution") will serve as a lubricant for the squeegee during glass cleaning, film application, and future cleaning. CAUTION: Do not use any household glass cleaner containing ammonia or vinegar to clean the glass or film; such cleaners can damage the vinyl film. However, extremely greasy or smoke-covered windows may need to be cleaned first with glass cleaner then rinsed thoroughly with the Solution."
Can I use someting else besides Gila application solution to apply Gila window film?
The Gila website says you can substitute a 1/4 teaspoon of No Tears Baby shampoo (no conditioner) and mix with quart of water. Shake, allow bubbles to settle and use.
How do you remove the back and rear windows of a 2005 Ford Escape for tinting?
The best way lists belowSide windows With a razor (make sure the razor is new) start at a corner then peel back film slowly, if film rips use the razor again to start after film is removed. There will be glue residue and the best way to remove this is to wet the glue with some soapy water, keep the glue wet and scrape it with the new razor, if you have any type of defogger or antennas do not use a razor!! seek professional help and allow a Tint Shop to remove your film Rear windows We use a plastic bag, clean the outside of the window then wet the window with soapy water, place the bag on the outside of window and make a template then wet the window inside. Transfer the bag to the inside of the window covering all of the rear glass. This works best in the hot sun, leave on for a half hour then try to remove film. Do not use a razor on defogger lines. If you cannot remove film this way, you can also use a steamer and steam the window, if that doesn't work take it to a Tinting Shop. You can also try cleaning glue off rear windows by spraying glue with a foam glass cleaner and let it soak for 5 mins then try to remove it with a cloth or email us for more information.
