There's a bolt you need to loosen by the AC pump to loosen/remove the belt. Check www.mx-3.com there's an online manual available.
One reason why an AC heater fan will not work on a Mazda 3 is that the fan is burned out. It will have to be replaced. However, first check to make sure that you have not simply blown a fuse.
You have to pull the radio trim, instrument cluster trim & top center heat/ac vent. After these are out you can remove the 3- 7mm screws from the back holding the switch in.

With that bolt removed you can pop out the ash tray/climate control unit, and you will be able to see the two bottom bolts for the radio. 3. Above the radio you will need to pop out the ac vent, it isn't screwed in so you just have to pull on it and it will pop out. With the vent removed you will see the top two bolts for the radio. 4. Remove the 4 bolts and the radio will slide out.

The starter is placed center under the Mazda 3 for easy access to the battery connection and the flywheel. You need to remove the plastic shroud under the car to reach it.
Start out by checking the blower motor resister......
There are two tabs inside the vent, in past the louvers, one at the 3 o'clock position and one at the 9 o'clock position. Pry the tabs gently toward the center to pull the vent assembly out. Replacement is easy since the assembly just snaps into place. Removal is not easy because both tabs must be moved toward center by about 1/4 inch each and while in that position the vent is pulled straight out away from the instrument panel toward the seats. Removal requires about three hands. The vent comes out as an assembly. Hope this helps.
On a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3L is easier if you lift the car from the front driver side, remove the tire and the plastic that covers inside the fender, the side that goes to the front of the car. if i'm not wrong i think it does have 3 bolts, two easy and one tricky one but it can be done with ease
