- Loosen the wheel nuts with the vehicle on the ground.
- Put the vehicle up on a jack stand
- Remove the loosened wheel nuts
- remove the wheel
- Disconnect the ABS sensor from the brake and hang it out of the way
- Remove the brake caliper & bracket and hang the caliper out of the way with a zip tie.
- Remove the brake rotor
- Undo the axle bolt (use a breaker bar)
- Remove the lower ball joint cotter pin and loosen the nut
- Split the lower ball joint
- Remove the lower ball joint nut
- Repeat steps 7-9 with the upper ball joint
- Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle
- pry the axle out from the differential housing with a screw driver or crow-bar (it's held in with a spring clip)
