The stock roof-mounted antenna on the 2005 Toyota Matrix will unscrew from the antenna base that is attached to the roof. If your original antenna has been stolen, you should be able to obtain a replacement antenna and just screw it on the the antenna base that is still attached to the roof of your Matrix.

∙ 16y agoMy Matrix is a 2004 XRS model...this is how I removed the factory installed stereo: 1. Start with the grey faceplate frame that surrounds the front of the stereo. There are no screws or bolts holding it in place. Pull the bottom out and away from the dashboard. Rotate it up and remove the faceplate. This will expose the stereo and stereo bracket. I had to disconnect the dashboard wiring from the back of this faceplate to provide a little more room. Remove what you can, remembering which cables connected to which receptacle on the faceplate. 2. Use a 10mm hex wrench to remove the 4 mounting bolts. You will need a long adapter to get to the two bottom 10mm bolts that are a little further in an harder to access. 3. Once these 4 bolts are removed, slide the radio forward and out. 4. There will only be two sets of cables you need to disconnect. The antenna cable and the wiring harness. These are pretty stragihtforward to remove...just pull them out of the radio. 5. That's it.
